Head Coach: Ken Peralta - 7th Season (65-24)
Marin Catholic Football Preview
By JOHN SWARTZ
THE MARIN INDEPENDENT JOURNAL

Coach: Ken Peralta, (seventh season)
Returning starters: five offense, five defense

Last year: MC had what coach Peralta called a good comeback year after a tough 2007 season. The Wildcats finished
second in the MCAL and made it to the third round of the North Coast Section playoffs, where a 19-13 loss to Encinal
ended their season with a 9-4 record. MC put five on the all-MCAL first team - seniors Nico Dumont, Jake Siefart, Dino
Ghilotti, Harry Gebhardt and sophomore Tony Popovich.

Keys to success: While Peralta is going to depend on his senior class, there is an influx of new talent from a successful
junior varsity program. Three sophomores are expected to see varsity time this season, and the Wildcats need those
younger players to quickly mix in with the 10 returning starters. The coaches are also going to see just how quickly the
players can learn, with new offensive coordinator Jose Nuila joining the program. But there should be some familiarity, as
Nuila and Peralta coached together for five seasons at Riordan High in San Francisco. Peralta also said that the defense
is slightly ahead of the offense at this point, but "the kids have taken to both of our coordinators," he added.

Last word: "Any program that's worth its salt hangs its hat on the senior class," Peralta said. "We've got some good kids
coming up, but we're going to be as good as our seniors can be."
